NATA HELPER

NATA 2018 (National Aptitude Test in Architecture) will be managed by the Council of Architecture (COA). It is a national level aptitude test which is conducted for admission into the architecture programme all over the country. From the year 2017, the NATA exam will be held only one time in a year. Through this exam, candidates will get admission into 5 years of Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch) programme. NATA Registration 2018

Candidates can register for the NATA 2018 through online mode.
The NATA 2018 Registration will begin from the 1^st week of January 2018.
Candidates can register till the 1^st week of February 2018.
Candidates have to fill their personal details & upload documents at the time of online form filling.
Candidates have to upload their scanned images, i.e., passport size photograph, left hand thumb impression & own signature in a given format.
Keep the printout of the confirmation page generated after the fee payment for further process.
There is no need to send the NATA application form through offline mode or by post.
In case, candidates make any mistake in the application form, the correction window will be opened in the 3^rdweek of February 2018.

Registration Fee

The registration fee is Rs. 1250 for all category candidates.
Candidates can make payment through online or offline mode include debit card/credit card/net banking & e-Challan.
Candidates, those opt for exam city in Dubai have to pay extra examination fee of INR 7000 prior to issuance of admit card.

Eligibility Criteria

The eligibility criteria are mentioned below:

Age Criteria:

Age Limit: Candidate’s minimum age should be 17 years as on 31^st July 2018.

Qualification Criteria:

Qualifying Exam: Candidates have to pass 10+2 or equivalent or 10+2 Diploma (any stream) or International Baccalaureate Diploma, after 10 years of Schooling.
Subjects: Pass above examination with mathematics as one of the subjects.
Minimum Marks: Secure at least 50% marks in the above qualifying examination.
Appearing candidates can also apply.
Lateral Entry: There is no process of lateral entry admission into B.Arch course.

NATA Exam Pattern

NATA 2018 exam will be conducted in the 3^rd week of April 2018. The exam pattern is given here:

Mode of Exam: The exam will be held through offline mode (pen paper based).
Duration: The duration of the exam will be three hours.
Type of Question: The question of Mathematics & General Aptitude will be multiple choice questions.
No. of Questions: Total 60 questions will be asked in the examination.
Total Marks: The question paper will be of 200 marks.
Marking Scheme: For each correct answer, two marks will be awarded to the candidates in Mathematics & General Aptitude test.
Negative Marking: No marks will be deducted for incorrect answer.
Subjects: The question paper will comprise of three sections, i.e. Mathematics, Drawing & General Aptitude.
Qualifying Marks: Secure minimum 25% marks in MCQ portion (30 out of 120) & 25% marks in Drawing portion (20 out of 80).

NATA Syllabus

The NATA 2018 Syllabus will consist of three sections include Mathematics, Drawing & General Aptitude.

Mathematics:

Algebra, Logarithms, Matrices, Trigonometry, Coordinate Geometry, 3-Dimensional Co-ordinate geometry, Theory of Calculus, Application of Calculus, Permutation and combination, Statistics and Probability.

General Aptitude:

Interpretation of pictorial compositions, visualizing three dimensional objects from two dimensional drawing. Objects, textures related to architecture & built environment. Analytical reasoning, mental ability (visual, numerical and verbal), general awareness of national/international architects and famous architectural creations. Visualizing different sides of 3D objects. Mathematical reasoning and sets & relations.

Drawing Test:

Understanding scale and proportion of objects, geometric composition, shape, building forms and elements, aesthetics, colour texture, harmony and contrast. Conceptualization and visualization through structuring objects in memory. Drawing of patterns – both geometrical and abstract. Form transformations in 2D and 3D like union, subtraction, rotation, surfaces and volumes. Creating 2D and 3D compositions using given shape and forms. Generating plan, elevation, and 3D views of objects. Perspective drawing, sketching of urban scape and landscape. Common day-to-day life objects like furniture, equipment etc., from memory.

NATA Admit Card 2018

Candidates can download their admit card from the 4^th week of March 2018 through online mode. Whenever the admit card will be issued by the authority we will update it in our website. The NATA 2018 admit card will consist of candidates & exam details such as name of the candidate, roll number, date & time of exam, venue of the test center, etc. Candidates have to carry one of the photo ID proof along with the admit card/appointment voucher.

NATA Result 2018

NATA 2018 Result will be announced after a few weeks of the examination. Candidates will check their results through online mode from the website. The result will be declared in the 2^nd week of June 2018. The result will be published in three formats: marks secure out of 200, merit list, percentile score. Keep the print copy of the result for admission procedure.

Admission Procedure

NATA Counselling will be organized by the participating Institutions Individually. No counselling will be conducted by the COA. After the result declaration, candidates can apply to get admission into B.Arch courses in various Institutions & university on the basis of the NATA Score card. The NATA Score Card will be valid only for the academic year 2018-2019.

3.Graphics Card

Minimum 2 gb dedicated graphics is required for this job. I would suggest you to go for the 4gb Nvidia Graphics rather than AMD graphics from my personal experience.

In Nvidia Graphics itself go for the 900m and above series which is more than enough for the work.
I prefer 940MX for better performance.

4.Storage

Minimum 500 gb harddisk is required . I would suggest you go for a 1TB harddisk. Nowadays we can get SSD instead of normal harddisk . SSD are simply the fastest hardisks we get in market. But they are really costly. So its better to buy with a laptop with mixed harddisk minimum 120gb SSD plus 1TB normal Hardidsk. So install the OS and Applications in the SSD and data can be stored in the normal harddisk. This will speed up the reading and writing time for OS and applications,which is helpfull in less time consumption.

1. By giving NATA, do I get automatic admission into any Architectural College in India?

Ans: No. NATA is just an Aptitude Test. On receiving the Score Card, the candidate will have to contact
various admission authorities with NATA Score Card and other details (as prescribed by the
respective Admission Authorities). Admission in India lies with the State (usually under
Directorate of Technical Education for that state). Usually around summer, Admission Authorities
will bring out admission notices in National & Regional newspapers. The candidate may
contact schools of architecture directly for information as to when the admission process is
scheduled to begin.

2. What is the last date for giving NATA?

Ans: The last date for NATA would be 31st August, 2014.

The dates on which NATA is available depends on the Test Centre. Candidates may request Test

Centres for the preferred dates. If the candidate is available for NATA only on a particular

date (or range of dates) that a particular Test Centre is not able to give, the candidate may

time. TEST CENTRE LOCATION HAS NO BEARING ON CHOICE OF ADMISSION AND APPEARING AT A PARTICULAR CENTER FOR THE TEST DOES NOT IMPLY THAT THE CANDIDATE COULD BE GIVEN ANY PRIORITY FOR ADMISSION TO THAT INSTITUTE. The logical last date for giving NATA for candidates seeking admission this year itself would be 5 days before the last date for submitting application for admission under a particular Admission Authority. This varies from

authority to authority.

3. What is the meaning of Admission Authority?

Ans: Admission Authority is a body, authorised by the Central/State Govt. / University to conduct

and monitor admissions in that area. This may vary from the Directorate of Technical Education

itself, a major University, Institution(s), a body created by an association of Architectural Schools

in that State (eg. MASA), or any other Admission Authority recognised by the state. The candidate

may be advised to check up in advance with Schools of Architecture where he / she is

applying for the details of the admission authority and other information on the exact

admission process.

4. How do I practice for NATA? Where can I take tuitions?

Ans: NATA is designed in such a manner that prior tutelage is not required. COA/NIASA is aware

that the candidates will have no or minimal knowledge of architecture. NATA measures

aptitude of the candidate in his / her aesthetic sensibilities (3D visualisation, logical

understanding, etc.) and drawing skills that are in-built in every candidate and developed

right from childhood to the present day. There will be certain questions on architectural

awareness wherein candidates may be required to identify building of national or international

importance. The candidate is expected to know about these structures through General

Knowledge. The candidate may also prefer to update his knowledge on this by some reading,

internet browsing or even by talking to architectural students, architects and other knowledgeable

persons. In all probability, this will not be required. There will be a model NATA interface

available on the NATA website to help candidates get acquainted with the visual format of the

test. There will be no model questions available as such. The language medium of the test will be

English. Minimal computer skills are required (pointing and clicking Mouse buttons).

5. I am a foreign student / NRI. Can I take the test from my country of residence?

Ans: No. The candidate will have to register in India and give the test from any of the designated Test centres of his / her choice in India. The qualification process for giving NATA stands the

same. Admission will be given by the respective admission authorities according to the rules laid

down by it for students of such category.

6. If I belong to a particular quota (SC/ST/NT/etc.), do I get score waiver for NATA during admission?

Ans: No.

7. Are there any additional fees payable for training, etc?

Ans: No training/coaching is allowed in Test Centres and no other fees payable for this exam. If any

centre indulges is such practice or insists on additional fees or participation in training program,

please report such incident to Council of Architecture or NIASA.

8. Do I have to appear for NATA at the college where I aspire to take admission?

Ans: No. You may appear for NATA at any Test center convenient to you. Based on the score you may

seek admission to any college where you are eligible to seek admission.

THE ADMISSION PROCEDURE FOR THE NATIONAL APTITUDE TEST IN ARCHITECTURE (NATA) FOR THE YEAR 2016 COMMENCES FROM APRIL 1ST ONWARDS...

WHAT IS NATA

The National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA) tests the aptitude of the applicant for

study of Architecture. 10+2 or PUC students who want are desirous of taking admission

to first year of undergraduate course in Architecture (Bachelor of Architecture) in India

take NATA. NATA scores are used by admissions authorities of different Government,

Govt aided & unaided Schools/Colleges of architecture. NATA is conducted by

COA - Council of Architecture. Official site for NATA is www.nata.in

NATA can be given from 1st march till 30th September every year at designated test centers.

NATA can be taken any number of times in a year. This means if a student gets less

score he can retake the test to improve his score by re-registering for the NATA by

paying fees again. However NOT the best score, but the average of the scores is taken

into consideration. For example a student scores 80/200 marks in the first attempt

and 110/200 marks in the second attempt his over all score is (80+110)/2 = 95 marks.

If in the second attempt he managed to score only 50/200 then his over all score would

get reduced to (80+50)/2 = 65. So it is always better to prepare well for the exam and

get good scores in the first attempt itself. NATA scores are valid for 2 years.

ELIGIBILITY

Candidates having 50% marks in 10+2 or equivalent examination with mathematics

as one of the subject, only are eligible for admission to B.Arch.Course.

WHO SHOULD TAKE NATA & WHY?

Prospective applicants desirous of taking admission to First year of undergraduate course

in Architecture (Bachelor of Architecture) in India take NATA. NATA scores are used by

admissions authorities of different Government, Govt. Aided & unaided schools / colleges

of Architecture, to provide common measure for comparing the qualifications of

applicants for admission in addition to their scholastic performance in 10+2 or equivalent

examination.

WHERE TO APPEAR FOR NATA?

NATA is offered over major part of admission season at designated Test Centers located

at colleges / schools of architecture in India.

HOW TO REGISTER FOR NATA TEST?

Please follow the process given below to obtain the Information Brochure cum Application

form for NATA 2016

IMPORTANT NOTE:

It is compulsory to bring the stamped copy of the bank challan along with the

application form. If copy of bank challan is not submitted to the Test Center

Coordinator, your form will not be accepted.

NATA 2014 registration forms can be filled online by making a payment of NATA fees of Rs 1000 (plus processing
fees) using Netbanking / Credit Cards / ICICI Isure Bank Challan from 1st
March 2014 onwards.

Step 1: Register Yourself on NATA Student Portal
To fill the NATA Registration form online, you need to generate a username and password at
www.nata.in/register. If you have already generated your username and password for NATA Student Portal, you
may skip this step.
1. In your browser, open www.nata.in/register
2. Click on the “Click here to register” button
3. You will be presented with a form to fill. Enter your desired username, password and your VALID email
address.
4. While choosing a password, please note that it should be atleast 8 characters long and MUST have
atleast 1 non alphanumeric character.
5. After filling the form, click “Create User” Button.
6. You will receive an email on the email address given by you at the time of registration. Follow the
instructions in the email to activate your account.

Step 2: Login to NATA Student Portal
After you have activated your account, click on the “Login” link at the top right corner of your page in the
browser.
Enter your Username, Password and Email address to login to the portal.

Step 3: Complete your profile on NATA Student Portal
After you login to the Student Portal, you need to complete your profile before you can pay the fees to get NATA
Registration form. In order to complete your profile, you will need following things ready:
a. Your SSC (Std X) Marksheet
b. A jpg file of your Photograph cum Signature. Please refer to Annexure A of this document to understand
the how to create a jpg file of your Photo cum Signature.
To complete your profile, follow the steps given below:
1. Click on “Candidate Profile” link in the header menu.
2. You will be presented with a form. Fill up all the information in the form by referring to your SSC (Std X)
Marksheet.
3. Click on the “Browse” button and select the jpg file of your Photo cum Signature on your computer.
4. Click on “Upload” button. You will see your photo cum signature on the form.
5. Click on “Save” Button.

If everything is okay, you will see a “Purchase Form” button at the bottom right corner of your screen.

If the information entered is correct, you can click on the “Purchase form” button.

Step 4: Choosing a Payment Method
Once you click on the “purchase form” button, you will be presented with the payment method options. There
are two methods by which you can make a payment, namely Netbanking/Credit Cards and ICICI Bank Isure Pay
Challan.
Netbanking and Credit Card
When you choose this method, you will be taken to our payment gateway where you can make the payment for
NATA Registration fee. Once the payment is successful, you can go to “My NATA Forms” section and download
your Registration form.
ICICI Bank ISURE Pay
When you choose this method, you will be asked to download a prefilled ICICI Bank Challan. You will have to
approach the nearest ICICI Bank with the printed copies of this challan and pay the fees mentioned in it. Once
the fees are paid, you will be able to download your form from “My NATA Forms” section.

Step 5: Taking Appointment for NATA Exam
After downloading and printing the form, you shall approach any activated test center convenient to you. The
Test Center shall give you an appointment for exam based on the schedule and availability at the Test Center.
They will issue to you the Appointment Voucher for the given appointment.

Downloading your Scorecard
After you give the exam, your scorecard is normally generated at the end of 4th working day. You can login to the
NATA Student Portal and go to the “Scorecard” Section and download your scorecard from there.

Please remember, you will have to generate a separate username and password at http://support.nata.in.

Your NATA Student Portal password will not work for Help Desk.

ADMISSION PROCESS
